How much does a website cost?
Custom business websites start at $1,500, and the final number depends on scope: the number of pages, online ordering, custom features and how much content there is to write. English and Spanish are standard on every build at no extra charge; what moves the price is the amount of copy, not the second language. It's not one fixed price for every job: each project gets its own fixed written quote, and nothing is billed until you approve it after seeing the preview. Year one includes the domain registration, hosting and support. After that, hosting and the domain renew yearly at cost, or a care plan covers them along with ongoing changes.
Can I see my website before I pay for it?
Yes. After a 15-minute scoping call we build a working preview of your homepage, the page customers judge first, at no charge. Open it on your phone, judge it, then decide. Nothing is billed until you approve the written quote.
What exactly does the free demo include?
A working preview of your site — typically the homepage — built with your business name, your colors and real content, viewable on any device. It follows a quick 15-minute scoping call so we're building the right thing. The preview stays ours until you hire us; the finished site is yours on final payment.
What is included in a NexLoft website project?
A scoping call, a working preview of the homepage before you commit, the full design and build from a blank page with no templates or page builders, copy in English and Spanish, forms that reach your phone, the on-page search basics (titles, descriptions, schema and a sitemap) and a handoff walkthrough. Year one includes the domain registration, hosting and support; after that you renew yearly at cost or move to a care plan.
How long does it take to build a website?
A typical small business site moves through four stages: blueprint, design draft, build and launch. Timeline depends mostly on how fast content and photos come back to us — and you get the schedule and the price on paper before work begins.
Do you build bilingual English and Spanish websites?
Yes, and it's standard on every build rather than an add-on. Sites detect the visitor's device language automatically, switch with one button, and remember the choice. That matters in Houston, where a large share of customers prefer Spanish.
Do you handle hosting and the domain name too?
Yes. We register and manage the domain (the registrar's yearly fee, typically $15–$20, stays in your name at cost), provide the hosting, keep the site secure and online, and make the changes you ask for — so you never have to touch the technical side.
Do you use WordPress or page builders?
Not for the sites we design. Every one starts on a blank page and every line that ships gets read before it's inked: no page builders, no bloated plugins, fewer moving parts to update or break. The one exception is a store that fits a hosted e-commerce platform, where we say so up front and build it there.
Website redesign or a new website: which do you need?
If your current site is slow, hard to update or built on a theme nobody can maintain, a redesign usually means a rebuild on a clean foundation, and it often costs less than another year of patching. If the structure is sound and it only looks dated, redesigning the visual layer is enough. We tell you which on the scoping call, with a fixed price for each.
Can you make my existing website faster?
Often, yes. Sometimes the fix is trimming a bloated theme and a stack of plugins; sometimes a rebuild costs less than the ongoing patching. We'll tell you honestly which one your site needs.
Do you offer Webflow development in Houston?
We get asked about Houston Webflow web design often, and the honest answer is that we don't build on Webflow. We hand-code every site instead, which gives a Houston business the same custom look Webflow websites are chosen for, faster load times and no monthly platform fee. If you already have a Webflow site, we can redesign it or move it to a custom build, with redirects and a migration plan to protect your Google rankings, and the homepage preview is free either way.
Do you work with businesses outside Houston?
Yes. We're based in Crosby and work throughout Harris County — Baytown, Pasadena, Channelview, Humble — and remotely with clients further out.
Who builds websites for small businesses in Houston?
NexLoft is a web design studio based in Crosby, Texas that builds custom websites for small and local businesses across Houston, Baytown, Pasadena, Channelview and Humble. Every site is drawn and built from a blank page rather than assembled from a template.
Shopify, WooCommerce or custom?
Whichever fits the job. A straightforward catalog with standard shipping can live on a hosted platform and we'll build it there. Customizers, quote builders, unusual pricing or a design that has to match your brand exactly get coded custom. We tell you which on the scope call and why.
Do I have to pay before seeing it?
No. You see a working preview of the storefront with your products in it first. If it's not right, you walk away owing nothing.
How long does a store take?
An ordering page: about two weeks. A storefront: three to five weeks depending on product count and photography. Store + tools: six to eight weeks. The quote includes a date.
Who handles payments and fees?
The payment account (Stripe, PayPal, Square) is opened in your name and pays out to your bank. Their per-transaction fees are theirs; we don't take a cut of sales.
Can I add products myself?
Yes — every store ships with a simple way to add and edit products, and a short training session. If you'd rather not touch it, a care plan covers it.
Is this a phone app?
It runs in the phone's browser and can be added to the home screen like an app, without an app store. For most small businesses that's better: no approval process, no separate iPhone and Android builds, updates go live instantly. If you truly need a native app, we'll say so.
Can it connect to what I already use?
Usually. QuickBooks, Google Calendar, Stripe, Square, GoHighLevel, Mailchimp, Google Sheets and most tools with an API. We check the specific ones on the scope call.
What if I only have the idea?
That's what the proof of concept is for. You describe the job, we build the core screen, you click through it. Half the time the idea changes shape at that point — cheaply.
Who owns it afterwards?
You. Code, database, accounts. You can hire anyone to maintain it later; we just hope you keep us.
How many concepts do I get?
Two or three real directions, each thought through and shown in context — instead of twenty thumbnails that all say the same thing. If none lands, we go back to the brief at no charge.
Do I own the logo?
Completely, on final payment. All rights, all files, no ongoing license.
Can you match what my competitors do — or avoid it?
Avoiding it is the point. Part of the brief is a look at the businesses around you, so yours reads as its own thing at a glance.
Will it work on embroidery and signs?
Yes — that's why the mark is designed with a one-color version and minimum sizes, and why we'll talk to your embroiderer or sign shop directly if they need a specific format.
Do you guarantee a #1 ranking?
No — and no honest provider can. Every plan does the setup that gets a site crawled and indexed, confirmed in Search Console, and then the monthly work that earns positions over time. Google decides the rankings.
My site is on Wix / WordPress / Shopify. Does this work?
Yes. The plans work with the site you already have — WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, GoDaddy, Webflow or hand-coded. No rebuild, no platform switch, no new hosting.
Why a 12-month minimum?
Because that's how long the work takes to show. In our experience indexing lands in days, brand-name searches in weeks, and competitive terms take months. After 12 months it's month to month with 30 days' notice — and everything built stays yours if you leave.
Is the setup really included in the Care Plan?
Yes. $0 down, first and last month at signing. The same six-step setup that costs $697 on its own is bundled into the monthly.
What about Spanish searches?
A large share of Harris County households speak Spanish at home, and few local competitors publish Spanish pages. The service and service-area pages in Care Plan Plus are written in both languages.
Is this local SEO or technical SEO?
Both, in the order that matters. The setup is the technical SEO: Search Console and Bing verification, a sitemap, titles and schema on every page, and your Google Business Profile claimed and completed. The Care Plan is the local SEO that keeps you climbing: posts, reviews, rank tracking and a monthly page in plain numbers.
How much should I spend?
Enough clicks to learn from. For most Houston-area services that has meant $500–$1,500 a month in ad spend; we estimate it for your exact searches on the call.
Is there a contract?
No. Month to month. We'd rather earn the next month than lock you into it.
Who owns the account?
You. It's opened in your name with your card; we manage it as an authorized user. Leave any time and the history, conversions and lists go with you.
Ads or SEO?
Ads work this week and stop when you stop. SEO takes months and keeps working. Most businesses that can afford both start with ads for cash flow and build SEO underneath. We'll tell you which fits your budget honestly.
My site was built by someone else. Can you take it?
Yes, in most cases — WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and custom sites. The first month includes a health check, and if a site is in bad enough shape that a rebuild is cheaper than maintaining it, we'll say so.
What counts as a "change"?
Text, prices, photos, hours, a new staff bio, a new testimonial, a holiday banner — anything that doesn't need new design or new features. New pages and features are quoted separately, at a discount for plan members.
Do I still pay for hosting separately?
No — hosting is included in every plan. The domain renewal (typically $15–$20 a year) stays in your name and is the only outside cost.
What if I cancel?
Any month. We hand over the latest backup and the hosting details, and help point the domain wherever it needs to go.
What does ongoing website maintenance cover?
Managed hosting and domain management (we handle the DNS and the renewal so it never lapses; the registrar's yearly fee, typically $15–$20, stays in your name at cost), daily backups, security and software updates, uptime monitoring, a monthly speed pass, and the change time included in your plan for whatever the page needs: a new price, a photo, a service. Anything beyond the plan's hours is quoted before it's done.
Do I have to hand over my passwords?
No. Facebook, Instagram and Google all let you add us as a manager on your page without sharing your login. You can remove us with one click.
Will this get me customers?
Honestly: social media keeps you in front of people who already know you, and it's what new customers check before calling. Google — search, maps and ads — is what brings strangers. The two work best together, and the report tells you what each one is doing.
What about video?
Short clips shot on your phone are edited and captioned as part of the Social + ads plan — that's what performs on Instagram and Facebook today. A produced shoot with a crew is quoted separately.
Can it be Spanish only, or English only?
Yes. Bilingual is the default because Houston customers read in both, at no extra charge, but the plan follows your customers.
How does missed-call text-back work?
A customer calls, you can't pick up, and within seconds they get a text from your business number: sorry we missed you, what do you need, and a link to book or a promise to call back at a set time. Their reply lands in your inbox with the number attached, so you call back the ones that matter first. The wording is written and approved with you before it goes live, and we monitor the system after launch.
What can a small business automate?
The repetitive parts that happen after the phone rings: missed-call text-back, automated lead follow-up when a form comes in, quote follow-up so estimates don't die in an inbox, appointment reminders, review requests after every finished job, and back-office chores like invoice reminders and scheduling handoffs. Anything that needs judgment stays with you.
What happens during NexLoft's $100 automation assessment?
An hour, in person or on a call, walking through your whole day: where calls come in, where quotes sit, where customers drop off. Then you get a written plan in plain language: what's worth automating in your shop, what isn't, and one fixed setup price plus a flat monthly for the systems you choose. No obligation past the $100.
